Pregnancy loss

Whatever the circumstances surrounding the death of your baby, it could be through miscarriage, abortion or stillbirth, it will always be a major bereavement for all concerned. It is important you give yourself time to grieve and work through your thoughts and emotions.

When you are ready, Liberty can provide a caring and compassionate counselling service helping you come to terms with your loss.

Miscarriage

Miscarriage, or the loss of a baby before 24 weeks, can be a frightening and isolating experience accompanied with feelings of guilt and powerlessness.

‘It is a sad fact that 1 in every 4 women will have a miscarriage’

The experience is different for everyone and there is no right or wrong way to react. There could be feelings of guilt and inadequacy and even anger, and you may be searching for answers and feel the need to talk it through with someone. Liberty can help you deal with these emotions and be alongside you as go on your journey.

Still Birth

Still birth is defined as the death of a baby after 24 weeks and for women and their families it is a devastating experience.

‘17 babies are stillborn, or die shortly after birth, every day in the UK. Tragically, 1 in 200 births end in stillbirth.’

It can be an unexpected and shocking event with the joy of pregnancy suddenly becoming completely the opposite.  Following the loss is a grieving process and not everyone will experience it in the same way. There may be possible feelings of disbelief, intense sadness and isolation, or lack of concentration. Feelings of helplessness is a common reaction too
